Former Studio Artist from May 2014 – April 2015
Karin Fisslthaler, born in 1981 in Oberndorf near Salzburg, lives and works in Vienna. She studied Experimental Design at the Institute of Fine Arts and Cultural Studies in Linz. Since 2003 Fisslthaler produces and performs electronic music by the name Cherry Sunkist. In her work as a visual artist and filmmaker she deals with questions of medial representations of body and body language, communication and constructions of identities.
“The main topic of my work is the human body, its nonverbalcommunication system, representation and identity construction. I am researching these aspects mostly in found images and carving out the process of collective and individual reflections of human behaviour in the media. I work with different kind of materials like film and video, music or found pictures. By means of collecting, cutting and reassemling I try to open already defined views and creating voids with the objective of ambiguity of interpretation.”
