Dorothea Trappel, born in Linz, lives and works as a freelance artist in Vienna.
Trappel studied from 1998 to 2002 Acting Studies in Berlin and Vienna. From 2010 on she studied TransArts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and graduated in 2016 with a master’s degree.
Multidisciplinary is playing a decisive role in the work of Dorothea Trappel. There are various artistic forms of expression, visual arts, new media art, literature, sound, architecture, performance and acting. Due to her longtime occupation as an actress, she is especially interested in language, literature and theatre. The term of language is determined very openly in her work and becomes performative or sculptural as installations, films or photography. The way of facing language is always different, but the playful presentation of different materials often takes a center stage.
