Bárbara Palomino Ruiz was born in 1982 in São Paulo, Brazil. She’s currently based in Vienna and works between Austria, France and Chile. She holds a diploma from the renowned Le Fresnoy Studio National des Arts Contemporains, France, a BFA in Visual Arts with an emphasis on Textile Arts from the University of Chile, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and Humanities from
Artist’s statement In her artwork Bárbara Palomino Ruiz focuses on mixed media and multimedia creations, with a particular focus on textiles and the relation between old and new technologies, as well as the social production of memory, affective cartographies and invented traditions. She complements her own artistic practice with an interest in adjacent disciplines and collaborative projects related to contemporary art in order to strengthen interdisciplinary approaches and artistic discourse.
