Markus Taxacher studied sculpture and performative arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In 2010, he was co-founder of the artist-collective “Kollektiv/Rauschen”, who participated in “The morning line” by Matthew Ritchie (2013), and in the Austrian Pavillion at the Venice Biennial (2014). In collaboration with das weisse haus he co-curated the exhibitions “random thoughts of a daily light”, and “Fine Sound – keine medienkunst”. Since 2015 he runs the project “Signal Zirkus” which is a platform for modular soundsynthesis, soundsculptures and performances.

In his works Markus Taxacher deals with different media, focusing on transformations and translations between materials, functions and contents. Sound and light are important formats in his installations and sculptures, just as the view on mechanical dysfunctions and physical, political and social absurdities.
