Miwa Negoro, Curator in Residence 2019

Miwa Negoro

Residency Period
January 23 – April 15, 2019

Miwa Negoro, born in 1989, is an independent curator based in Berlin and Zurich. Her research interests lie in the subjects of transcultural representation, performativity, decolonial thinking, and politics of social space. Negoro holds a master’s degree in architectural history at Waseda University in Tokyo, and completed postgraduate studies in curating at the Zurich University of the Arts. Her recent curatorial work includes my grammar and (y)ours?, OnCurating Project Space, Zurich, 2018; a solo exhibition of Aya Momose, Borrowing the Other Eye, ESPACE DIAPHANES, Berlin, 2018. She has worked as a curatorial assistant at Kunsthaus Zurich, Johann Jacobs Museum, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, among others.

150 years of diplomatic relations between Austria and Japan give reason for this project, that combines a curatorial residency and an exhibition at das weisse haus in spring 2019 that refers to these bilateral relations.
