Berlin-based artist Hyojun Hyun (b.1983 S.Korea) explores the notion of leftovers in daily life and presents the idea in his painting and installation works. It is personal research on the relations between the banality of modern urban landscapes and the history of art. Hyojun studied at the Glasgow School of Art (MFA, 2010-12), Jan Van Eyck Academie (2013-14) in Maastricht, and later moved to Berlin in 2015.
His solo shows include Lila: Free Play at Goethe-Institut Glasgow (2022), Everyday is the same, but different at Cultureland, Amsterdam (2019), Mansion, Beirut (2019), Line, Surface, and Rhythm at BABEL Visningsrom for Kunst, Trondheim (2016), and Strange Days at House of Egorn, Berlin (2015). He participated in various group exhibitions such as The Scissors of the Scorpion at Huis Henk Visch, Eindhoven (2022), Scattered Sights at Intermedia Gallery, CCA, Glasgow (2021), 20/20 at Schoeler, Berlin (2020), NADA Miami (2019), Schloss Plüschow (2017), Autopoiesis at Haus am Kleistpark, Berlin (2015), Tannery Arts at Drawing Room (2013), and New Sensations at Victoria House, London (2012).
