Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Art Awards 2019

As part of its ExtraVALUE Sponsoring Program, Erste Bank is pleased to announce the fourth edition of its ExtraVALUE Art Awards, organised in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum New York and studio das weisse haus. Two prizes will be award:

The Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Art Award, endowed with 3.000 euros
including a one month stay in New York City (June 2019) and an exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum (opening in June 2019)

The Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Art Recognition Award, endowed with 1.500 euros
including a solo-exhibition in das weisse haus (in September 2019) 

Deadline for applications: January 31, 2019 at 7 pm

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Proposals may only be submitted by artists and collectives that have already participated in the programs of das weisse haus / studio das weisse haus. Additionally, applicants must work and live in Austria in 2019. The application process is carried out in two steps.

Step 1
Artists who meet the aforementioned requirements are kindly asked to submit the application form, as well as a portfolio with works of the past five years and a professional CV. From all the submissions received by January 31, 2019 the jury members – including Anne Faucheret (Curator Kunsthalle Wien), Andreas Huber (Director Gallery Crone) and Tim Voss (Artistic Director Künstlerhaus Wien) – will meet on February 12, 2019 in order to select 5 candidates for each award.

Step 2
The five candidates nominated for the Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Art Award will be asked to submit an initial concept for the exhibition at the ACFNY by March 11, 2019. It may include existing works or have a discursive, site-specific and/or participatory format. The same procedure is applied to those five candidates, who were nominated for the Erste Bank ExtraVALUE Recognition Award. They will be asked to submit an initial concept for the exhibition at das weisse haus by March 11, 2019. It may include existing works or have a discursive, site-specific and/or participatory format.

Final Decision
On March 22, 2019 the jury will select the two awardees. In the final decision, this year’s selection board will be supported by Ruth Goubran (Head of Community Affairs & Sponsoring Erste Bank), Alexandra Grausam (Head of das weisse haus / studio das weisse haus) and Michael Haider (Director ACFNY).

APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Artists and collectives that have already participated in programmes of das weisse haus / studio das weisse haus and thus meet the requirements are kindly asked to submit the following documents, exclusively in digital form (PDF/doc), by January 04, 2018 to applications@dasweissehaus.at:
1) The fully completed application form
2) A professional CV
3) A digital portfolio with works of the past five years (size should not exceed 3MB).

Please note that only submissions that meet all the aforementioned criteria and are received no later than January 31, 2019 can be accepted.
